Retro Day at my Daughter's School

The only time my 9 year old daughter let's me do her hair is on "Crazy Hair Day," "Retro Day," or Picture Day at School! You would think with such a talented mother :) she would be begging me to style her hair everyday! Nope not the case. Good thing I have another little girl just behind her, that is finally having some good hair come through.

Andelyn Love wanted to Rock the 50's for Retro Day, so I said we have to do a Beehive. She didn't know what one was, so I had to pull up some pics! She was all in after viewing some crazy hairstyles, she wanted drama and she had the amount of hair for it.

I only had 20 minutes for this hair-do so I had to work fast and yes that's all her hair!

Diana's Annapolis Nuptials

Diana & Joey were going to get married next June. Then, they realized that a big planned-out spring wedding just wasn’t them. So they moved their wedding up by SIX MONTHS! Alex from Cherry Blossoms Events (Coordinator's that I work with frequently) was the bride's best friend and Maid of Honor. She contacted me a few weeks prior and asked if I would be available for this small intimate wedding to style both of their hair. I said "of course" and so glad I did! Diana was the sweetest thing ever! Loved working with her and Alex! I also loved looking over the many amazing photos from the day. You can see so much love for each other in this couple! Connie 's Fall Wedding

Connie got married the first weekend of October. She had short hair but wanted her hair up. I matched her hair to some clip-in extensions and pulled it up in a classic, elegant chignon. She purchased some beautiful hair pins to add some extra bling and specialness to the hair. I thought she looked lovely! My other stylist Lindsey was on site to help out with the large party. Everyone was so sweet and we had a great time getting her family and friends ready.

Nikki and Dave get Hitched on the National Mall!

I'm back! Had some a great break with my family for the holidays, so forgive me for my lack of blogging.

I didn't even know it was possible to get married on the National Mall, but apparently it is! Nikki had the know how to do so, got her permits and tad-a!

(so cool, I love this picture, truly amazing photo!)

Nikki wanted 2 looks for her day, so I rigged her hair so it started up and then she could take out half of it herself and have it half-up, half-down later for her reception. Here below is her second look, thought it worked out great and she looked beautiful!

Sarah had a very fun Carnival Retro themed wedding geared at the 50's!

We had to cut Sarah's hair to achieve the look we were going for. True 50's in all it's glory. I had a lot of fun styling her "do" as well as all her retro bridesmaids. She had pulled up some awesome photos from that time period that I could use for inspiration. It's always fun to do something unique and different.

She is also very talented, she knitted her bridesmaids bolero's and made her own brooch bouquet!

Destination Bride to the Beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands!

I met Lindsay at another bride's wedding I worked on, Lauren (whose wedding is going to be featured in the Knot coming out in January, stay tuned.) She asked me to style her hair close to the way she wanted it at her wedding a year out. She took the pictures to the island and they couldn't re-create it, so.....she decided to bring me along and I decided to bring the hubby along to. On top of knowing Lauren and Lindsay, I knew Lindsay's sister (who was a bridesmaid at another wedding I did) and their friend Erin another bridesmaid at Lauren's wedding. It was fun to know so many of them.

I can't say enough wonderful and amazing things about this group of people. All of Lindsay's friends and families welcomed my husband and I into their group like we knew them all our life. We truly had the most fantastic and unbelievable time with all of them.

Started off, sailing into the sunset for the bachelorette or "girl" party. So fun, so many nice people and beautiful waters!

Next night they had an amazing BBQ on the beach with bonfire, music, dancing and even LIMBO!

Do you recognize Vanessa? She was our model bride for our mock wedding that was featured on "Style me Pretty" this past summer. She had the fish tail textured braid. Well, it was finally her turn for her wedding. We wanted to go with something completely different from the shoot. I've had a lot of bride's lately doing the Old Hollywood Glam theme, but each one looks unique in their own way. I loved her birdcage veil with feathers and brooch.

This is just a few of what's to come from Anne Robert Photography. I loved working with all her beautiful family and friends and can't wait to see those photos to. They all decided to get some fun hair-styles.

Me and my team had a great time with her party. They were all so fun, beautiful and sweet! Vanessa couldn't have been any nicer, such a doll to work with and we have had some fun working together now a few times. The Ever So Sweet and Lovely Mia!

I was so excited to get these photos back from the amazing Anne Robert from Anne Robert Photography. I saw her shooting some of these and instantly fell in love with the pics and Mia from H to T! She was absolutely stunning, I loved her simple yet elegant dress that completely reminded me of Marilyn Monroe! She had the most amazing hair, long and thick. I was able to create some awesome retro hair that I really enjoyed creating. From the birdcage veil to the little bolero over her dress to the amazing makeup by Jan Makeup Artist her look was perfect! Hollywood Glam at it's best! It also didn't hurt that she was the biggest sweety!

Michelle went for that old hollywood glam that I love! From the dress to the necklace it all came together so well and she looked stunning! She had a big bridal party and I did everyone that day all 9 by myself. It was busy but we had a good time. She has some wonderful family and friends.

I also really loved the hotel she got ready in, so artistic and fun it helped inspire me :)

Elaine, Greg & Irene at the National Museum of Women in the Arts

Elaine and Greg were one of the lucky couples who got married the day Hurricane Irene hit. Your probably surprised that the bride still decided to wear her hair down, not only her but almost her entire bridal party. Daring a little but Elaine has amazing hair that will hold curl for days! We even had to go with a huge curling iron to make sure it would have the loose feel she wanted. It all worked out, all their hair stayed (few tricks) and it was a beautiful wedding. They didn't even have to use the back up generator.

What a beautiful bride and so calm for such weather. I was happy to be a part of her beautiful day, even in a Hurricane :)

Hair in Utah, WHAT?

My Brother-in-law got married this past week in Utah, one of my home turfs! He lived with us for a few years in VA so I kind of felt like a second mother to him, so this was a very exciting special trip. I just had to fit it in between 5 other weddings I had scheduled. So luckily they got married on a Thursday and I was able to make it work, but let me tell you I packed in a lot in those 5 days :)

UTAH HAIR PART 1

So I have known my "BESTY" Julia since I was 2!!! I know forever, right! Every-time I go out to Utah I try and see her. Since this trip was so packed full I knew it was going to be tough. Then she told me about this photo shoot she was going to be in and they needed a hairstylist, so I thought hey why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I will get to do her hair for the shoot and get to spend some time with her. She has done some modeling in the past and even though she did this shoot as a favor I think she should totally get back into the biz. She looked gorgeous as always!

I really have wanted to do this hairstyle on someone but haven't had the chance nor the right hair so I was excited to do it on her. She has thick long hair that was perfect for it. I even got to add some of bedazzling into the hair.

I feel like it's very Angelina Jolie mixed with some Julia Roberts, very Oscar's.

So these are just shots taken from my little I-Phone, so very excited to share the actual professional one's with everyone, when I get them back.

Here is a completely different look I did on her for another dress. More of where the trends have been but added some extra little braids and texture which you can't see.

So Lindsey wanted her hair down and Nate wanted it up, so I said hey guys you got me why not use me, so we did 2 looks.

My sister Sandra is a very talented hair dresser in the West Coast, Colorado! She just moved their from Missouri so she is still building her clientele from the move, so I summoned her here for 10 days to help me with 7 weddings! We had a blast and we rocked it! She is my mini me, our work is so similar and I just love when she comes to help! She is coming again in October to help out once more. It's just not enough hands with my 2 assistants. Shout out to my wonderful Assistants who help make our wedding parties look gorgeous!

This shoot was so me in every-way! I love texture, I absolutely love bright colors and I love stripe's mixed with flowers! Kelley and Karla from Kelley Cannon Events and Anne Robert from Anne Robert Photography did such an amazing job putting this mock wedding together. If I could get married all over again it would be almost identical to this shoot! Also loved the beautiful work from Amie Decker beauty and Holly Chapple flowers!

I had so much fun with her hair. I added clip-in hair extensions and then the ribbon to just add some flare! Vanessa has such great hair to work with and I can't wait to do her wedding coming up here in September. She is so stunning and the guy in the shots is her fiance, they were so cute together! Stay tuned for a whole new look for her wedding, oh and she was also the bridesmaid in the other shoot we did published below. P.S. Doesn't she look just like Carrie Underwood in the previous photo shoot!

Christina is getting married this weekend! I did her sister Jen's hair a few months ago for her wedding and still need to post those pictures, they both are such beauties!

She just sent me some pictures from her bridal session she did a few weeks ago. I love all the bright colors in these photos, so me! I will post more from the wedding as well as her sisters soon.

The Beautiful and Lovely Nicole

Nicole has been one of my color clients for awhile now. I just adore her! Nicole has the most amazing hair! Thick, wavy, texture volume it's amazing! We decided however, that we even wanted it to be even fuller so we added a track of clip in extensions. I colored it just right before and Whallaa, she looked stunning. Her whole family and friends were just the sweetest things. I love that she was my age when I got married 21! I know it's young but you can tell she is very much in love, they are the cutest couple!

End of last year I had the pleasure of working with Jessica and her entire bridal party. I contacted the photographer and just got back some amazing photos of her hair as well as her bridesmaids.

I was really excited to work with her! I loved her bird cage veil and I loved that she liked BIG hair! It was funny because we originally were going to go with her own hair but she decided to chop it off a few months before the wedding. No problem, we just added clip-in extensions to get the look we were going for. What a beauty she was as well as her entire party. I had a lot of fun with all of them.

This is one of my favorite styles to do on short hair and bob's. Who said you can't have an up-do when you have short hair. So a pretty photo, I love it!

I never have pictures of mother's up on my site. I had a request to start putting some up, so here is Jess's mom with an Audrey Hepburn inspired hair style. I even convinced her to cut her bangs at the last second to achieve the look. I thought she looked so beautiful and classic!

I was so excited to work with Sarah last weekend. She had a very retro feel wedding all the way and I loved every bit of her 50's themed wedding! She sent me just a few quick photos taken from friends and family and I had to share! I am so excited to get all the photos back from the photographer.

I had so much fun styling all the bridesmaids hair in the 50's themed wedding! From the hair, to the dress to her hand-made Brooch Flower Bouquet and hand-knitted Bolero's for her bridesmaids, this wedding had style written all over it. More to come from Sarah's wedding soon!

Alicia's Wedding Featured

Alicia got married on a Thursday and had her reception on a Friday. A little unique and I liked it. She had 2 different looks as well as all her bridesmaids. It was fun to create completely different looks for the whole party on different days.

I really enjoyed working with Alicia and her sweet family and friends. I loved the colors she chose for the wedding as well. I wanted to showcase some fun pictures from her wedding because I just loved her style. Don't forget to notice the absolutely adorable hair clip she made herself for her second look. It's a little feather clip that really compliments the whole look.

I loved Alicia's Wedding! She got married at a vineyard in Stafford VA. It was such a beautiful place. Alicia decided on 2 looks for her wedding so I got to stay all day and witness everything in it's awesomeness! She even invited me to come to the ceremony (so sweet!) Everything was so lovely, the decorations, the ceremony, the location, her hair choices, her stunning dress (which she looked breathtaking in), her sweet sweet family and friends. It was all so wonderful! I enjoyed myself and felt so privileged to be a part of her big beautiful happy day!!!

Originally Alicia was going to go with a sparkly headband but we felt it took away from the hair and flattened it in a way neither of us liked. We were just going to leave it until she pulled out a selection of earrings that she was deciding on wearing. I got an idea......I pulled a pair of the earrings out and decided to pin them into her hair off to the side. It felt like it needed something extra but needed to be delicate. It was a bit tricky pinning in earrings but it worked! The results were perfect, pretty and just added a little touch of specialness to her hair and the entire look.

Leslie + Clark

I have known Leslie since I moved out here 6 years ago. I highlighted her hair and when living in the city I would hang with their crowd on some occasions. I did her maid of Honors hair Marie for her wedding a few years ago when Leslie was in her bridal party. I love these girl's and was so excited to be a part of her big day! I wouldn't miss it for the world. I even had the option to style Mila Kunis hair for an event in D.C. but said I couldn't make it, I needed to be somewhere more important.

I LOVED Leslie's whole look, from the hair to the dress, she looked stunning! She has the thickest hair which worked so well with the loos curls. Loved everything about her wedding, so stylish, yet classy!

Catherine & Charles – Marry at Strathmore Music Hall

Loved working with Catherine. What a beauty she is and what amazing HAIR! Prior to the wedding we did some very subtle natural looking highlights to add some dimension to her hair. She wanted the half up half down look, big loose shiny curls, texture and ease, nothing to stiff or tight.

Her dress was stunning, she looked amazing! It was a pleasure working with her as well as her family and friends.

Yesterday I had an amazing opportunity to style some very influential women. First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a mentoring event in D.C. all day. She brought together more than twenty accomplished women to serve as mentors and share their experiences with students.

Here are some pictures from yesterday's events of some of the beautiful women I worked with. They were all so sweet and wonderful. I really enjoyed working with everyone of them. Such amazing and talented women they are, it was truly a pleasure meeting them!

I just got some pictures back from Ashley's wedding. I am definitely playing catch up on posting pictures I have received from very talented photographers.

Ashley was just simply gorgeous! I just love long flowing Victoria Secret Hair! Ashley's hair does not curl easily because it's heavy and fine, but here is proof that gals if you have hair that won't girl don't fret! I had a few tricks up my sleeves and I think it was a success. Such a beautiful girl, stunning gown and so sweet!

Tara and Tina

I had Tara who got married last weekend and then Tina who came for her trial last week. Both had a little similar of a hairdo but slightly different. Tara had more loops and swirls while Tina wanted more twists and texture. Both to the side and both blonde, with a lot of hair and to the side.

Tara was such a sweetheart! I really enjoyed being around her friends and family. You can tell she had a close relationship to all of them, she spoiled them with gifts including the most adorable comfy matching outfits! The cutest thing was how close her and her mom were. I had such a great time getting to know Tara, I loved her hair, her dress and of course her hair accessory! Congrats Tara, you looked amazing!

I had a lot of fun with Vicki and her friends. Lots of energy and excitement going on that morning. I love Vicki's laid back personality as well as the classic with a little fun hair-do she chose. She bought her hair pieces on Etsy and I loved them.

This was a large wedding party but I didn't have time to get pics from all the bridesmaids I did, I'll put some more up when I get the professional one's back. I did have time to snag a picture of her sis below. I loved how she wanted something a little more edgy. It's a little different from the requests I usually get, so I wanted to show it. Such beauties!

Last Minute Bride and EverleyChic Hairpiece

I got an email from a bride 1 week before her wedding and she said her hairdresser had cancelled on her :(

I had another wedding that day but told her if she could come to my home in the morning we could make it work.

She also said she didn't have any luck finding a hairpiece for her hair. When she came that morning I had pulled out all the one's I have in stock from my mom's site www.everleychic.com

Meghan was so sweet and and her friends and family who came as well were great support. Her hair is fine so her only request was some volume. I gave her something romantic and full and we added one of my mom's flower pieces that matched perfectly.

She looked great and I was happy we were able to make it all work. Congrats Meg!

From Blonde Bombshell too RED HOT!!!

Leah has been wanting to go bright coppery red for awhile now and finally got the courage to take the plunge. She looks so great as a blonde but I knew she would be able to rock the red as well!

I was a little hesitant only because red is the fastest fading color. However, when the new INOA color line came out..... I became certified and learned about all it's bell's and whistles, I knew it was the perfect time to do it. Everyone needs to Google INOA color and read up on it. It's a permanent color-line that's AMMONIA FREE! I know I couldn't believe it either but it's amazing! It lasts longer than all other color lines, uses oil as it's base instead of ammonia and doesn't damage the hair at all! It actually heals the hair and helps bring it back to it's healthy state. InSAne but true!

I had to post the before and after transformation because it's so different and fun! I love big changes and was really excited to take Leah RED!

Here are some shots of bride's I have done in the past few weeks.

Eleanor is the first bride. She just arrived from Whales and did her trial a few days before her wedding. She had sent in the contract and deposit months ago. I was excited to meet her. She had the sweetest demeanor I loved her beautiful accent. It was fun to be a part of her wedding because their was a lot of accents going around and I loved it! I told the girls I was going to try to start speaking like them because everything that came out of their mouths sounded so sweet and kind. It was a fun wedding to do and I enjoyed getting to know them all for the short time we had together.

Eleanor made a beautiful bride and I loved how she wanted her hair loose, free and fun. She wanted braids and twists and real flowers. The vintage earrings and necklace and beautiful gown all complimented each other so well and she looked stunning!

Margo was my next bride. I had a lot of fun getting to know her, I saw her a couple times before the wedding. I colored her hair to match the extensions we wanted to put in her hair. I added soft highlights and low lights to create the perfect blonde. She really just wanted the extensions for volume so I cut and texturized them to blend well with her hair to look natural. She looked soft and breathtaking so flawless and beautiful.

Her friends and family were amazing to work with. I love that her mom even wanted extensions too! We did a fun low and loose wavy up-do in the back, she looked awesome, but I didn't get any pics--I'll post some if I get them back from photographer.

Margo you looked like a natural, glowing beauty, thanks for letting me have fun with extensions and color!

Jenai was gorgeous too! I wasn't able to get a lot of pics because she was in a hurry so I'll wait to post more from the photographer. I loved the wavy style she chose as well as the brooches she found to accentuate the hair-do! They were so elegant! I wish I had pics of her in her dress with the hair, everything looked so incredible together and just flowed so well.

Jaclyn's Wedding!

Jaclyn has the most amazing head of hair! Very thick and long and gorgeous. When she said she wanted to wear her hair half up for the wedding I agreed whole heartedly that she should! The only problem was since it's so heavy but fine her's doesn't hold curl as well. We took some good precautions with great product when it was wet and some serious hair setting. The results were exactly what we wanted. She had great curl that would hold and she looked stunning!

Her bridesmaids all wanted a very similar "do" so I altered each one just slightly to make a little different and a little unique. She had a beautiful group of girls.

Mariam's Elegant Wedding!

Holy Hair! I was in Hair Heaven at Mariam's wedding! I don't think I have seen as long, thick and healthy hair from so many beautiful women at one wedding before.

Each girl had hair well down there back and some to the edge of their backs. Each one wanted something elegant and up! I loved working with all this hair it was fun to create and explore new do's! Another plus was they liked it big, which was another fun aspect.

Bridesmaid below originally just wanted a french twist but with all this hair I had to keep going and she was so great to let me. In the end she loved it and I loved doing it. My favorite part was the bow we made with the remainder of her hair that didn't have a home. Total 50's flare with a modern twist!

Another beautiful girl and head of hair I had the privilege to work on.

The Bride also chose a sleek elegant look! She has the most beautiful face and this hairstyle really showed off all of her great features! You were stunning Mariam! Thanks for letting me change it up and be a part of your glamorous day!

I'm so excited, Anne just sent me over some of the shots from the big bridal photo shoot we did last month. Anne is an awesome photographer who is building her wedding portfolio, when she asked me to do the hair for the shoot, I was really excited. We came up with some great ideas and ran with them.

We had so much fun getting creative for these looks, I especially had fun with the hair. We wanted to push the envelope just a little in bit in the bridal world and create some unique decade and vintage looks along with some modern.

I am so EXCITED! Last week I participated in a huge photo shoot for an AMAZING photographer who is expanding her portfolio. The shoot featured the 20's, 40's, 50's, 70's and modern brides. I had so much fun creating these vintage and unique styles. I had to post a sneak peak of one of my creations. I'm sure you can guess which decade this one is from. Megan's Wedding

What a beautiful wedding Megan had. Her location was breathtaking over by Queenstown MD.

We did 2 different looks on Megan, I failed to get pictures of her first hair-do which was half up and half down, wavy. When I went back for her second look we did this side wavy style. I absolutely fell in love with her hairpiece. It was the perfect accessory for her hair and dress. If fact I loved it so much I had my mom make one very similar to it which she is putting up on her site www.everleychic.com where you can purchase one similar to it.

Megan was such a beauty as well as her lovely bridesmaids who I didn't get pictures of either, which is fine because the amazingly talented Kelsey Thompson who was her photographer will have wonderful one's for me to choose from when they are finished. Stay tuned for more from Megan.

Erika's June Wedding!

I really enjoyed working on the girl's including Erika at her wedding. I thought each girl chose fun styles.

Erika originally chose a half-up half down wavy hairstyle until her dad stepped in and suggested wearing it up. He wanted to see her pretty face, when she came back for a second trial she wanted something, loose, romantic, whimsical and big! She has a hard time getting height and volume in her hair, so it was fun to show her just how big and voluptuous we could get it! I think she made the right choice on wearing it up, she looked so beautiful! She also picked out a really cute headband that I thought worked with the hairstyle perfectly.

Didn't get to see her in her dress :( but excited to see pics back from photographer!

Her sister also wanted something very similar to Erika's style (she was also the one who gave Erika the ideas for her bridal hair) I wanted to make them look slightly different and since she had some edgy blonde highlights in her hair we decided to go a little more messy and less polished and to pulled her hair straight back and loose rather than parted.

Her bridesmaid actually had a short bob haircut, I wanted to show her that she could still pull it up and have it look thicker longer. She was excited since she didn't think she would be able to get an up-do. To all you short hair girl's out there.....You can still pull your hair up don't fret!

It has been so busy lately and I love it! May was Crazy Busy with brides, bridesmaids and trials. Through going here to there I have managed to only capture some pics of the hair-do's I have created. This post is a mix of brides on their wedding day, trials and bridesmaids.

I am hoping to get some more professional pics from the photographer's of some of these weddings and I will post more from each wedding when I get them back.

I loved working with Larkin, her friends and her family! They were all so sweet and beautiful!

Larkin had the most AMAZING DRESS! I loved all of the details from the lace to the flowers it was absolutely stunning. Her whole wedding had a vintage edge down to the brooch she wore in her hair which was her grandmother's. Her mom had a unique collection of vintage pieces that they both wore.

The bridesmaids dresses followed theme and were so adorable on all the girls. Check out their flowered colorful pattern below.

Paige's Wedding (I remembered by Camera!)

What a fun group of girls! Paige had all of her long time friends with her for her special day. They were all so sweet and beautiful! I had a great time with all of them. They were listening to music, laughing, sharing memorable stories, it was great!

Paige is a very classic bride who loves the "Old Hollywood" style. From head to toe, Paige looked AMAZING, right out of a movie!

I adored her beautiful lace dress. All of her accessories complimented it so well. Her hair pin was bought on Etsy by one of her bridesmaids and it worked in perfectly! I loved the layers of pearls around her neck and finally the veil.....It had a vintage lace detail that was breathtaking and adorned the hair perfectly!

To tie it all together we did a vintage wave on her hair and pinned and tucked it to look loose, romantic and effortless.

Paige was Stunning and Elegant with Class and Poise!

2 Hair-dressers in the making!

One of my clients emailed me with the words "HELP" in the title! Apparently her two little girls were playing hair-stylist and decided to cut each other's hair. I have to say it was pretty bad and I didn't blame her for not wanting to take them to Hair-cuttery to try and fix it.

I had to get a little creative but I think they turned out pretty dang cute, it probably didn't hurt that they were cute to start :)

LuLu's bangs were chopped all the way up her forehead blunt and her sister also to a chunk out of her side. We gave her a cute short razored pixie cut. Isn't she cute!

Anna's was a little more serious in the back LuLu had taken a big chunk of the top area in the crown, it was so short so we had to chop off a lot! We layered it all up in the back to help blend the layers and gave her a swooping bang.

Lesson Learned: If your kids take scissors to each other don't panic you might actually get a haircut that you would have never dared to do in the first place and end up loving it more. At least that's what me and the mother thought.

Catherine's Wedding!
